Kent Koolen is Of Counsel at Moulton Bellingham PC. Kent's principal areas of practice are litigation, including personal injury and insurance defense, employment law, products liability, and medical malpractice law.
Kent was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on November 1, 1943. He received his B.A. degree in 1965 from Midland Lutheran College, in Nebraska, and taught high school English in Billings, Montana. After serving as a Captain in the United States Air Force, he attended law school at the University of Montana, where he was editor of the Montana Law Forum.
Kent received his J.D. degree in 1975, and served as a prosecutor for the Yellowstone County Attorney. He was assistant regional Counsel for Burlington Northern Railroad before joining The Moulton Firm in 1985. Kent has always been active in the community and in the legal profession. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors for Head Start of Billings. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Defense Research Institute (DRI). Kent has been honored as one of The Best Lawyers in America, and he is a Member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a membership that is by invitation only, based upon the number of lawsuits tried in front of a jury, and which represents less than 2% of the lawyers in America.
In the past, Kent has served as the DRI State Representative for Montana, and served as president of the Montana Defense Trial Lawyers. He has served on the Billings City Parks and Recreation Board, the Yellowstone County Fair and Civic Center Board (METRA), the METRA Foundation, and the Board of Directors of the Billings Boys and Girls Club. He served as a board member and past president of the Billings Breakfast Exchange Club.
