Chris Sweeney is an Associate at Moulton Bellingham. He practices in the litigation department at the firm, including in the areas of insurance defense, property law, estate litigation, and business litigation. He also has experience in labor law and defending actions in front of the National Labor Relations Board. Further, Chris has experience in Montana beverage license law, having assisted with the application and transfer of various types of beverage licenses, from beer and wine licenses to all-beverage resort licenses.
Chris was raised in Lonepine, Montana. Lonepine is in Sanders County on the Flathead Indian Reservation. He went to high school in Hot Springs, near Lonepine, and spent his high school summers working on his uncle's bee farm.
Chris obtained a degree in computer science with an emphasis on software systems development from the University of Montana. During college, Chris alternated between working for a grocery store during the school year and working as a wild land firefighter during the summers.
Chris received his J.D. from the University of Montana School of Law in 2008. In law school, Chris was a member of the Student Bar Association and the Rural Advocacy League. He was also a staff member of the Montana Law Review. Chris started employment with Moulton Bellingham shortly after graduation.
In addition to passing Montana’s bar exam, Chris was admitted to practice law in North Dakota in 2010 and he was admitted to practice law in Wyoming in 2011. Chris is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Montana and the Yellowstone Area Bar Association. Chris is a past member of the State Bar of Montana’s Technology Committee where he had the opportunity to utilize his computer science degree. Chris is also a past member of the State Bar of Montana’s New Lawyers Section.
In addition to practicing law, Chris serves on the Board of Directors for Job Connection, Inc., which is a private, non-profit corporation that specializes in supported employment. Chris also serves on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Yellowstone County.
